Planning Your Baby’s Gender and Taking Control of the Odds
Posted in: How to Conceive a Boy and tagged with: how to conceive a boy naturally, how to determine ovulation, ovulation calendar, ovulation predictorParenting can be very challenging as well as exciting. Some couples might be challenged on how to even out the boy to girl ratio among their siblings. In connection to this, it will add more sense of fulfillment to the couple if they are given some sort of control on choosing the gender of their baby or how to conceive a boy or a baby girl.
Numerous researches and studies have been proven successful and effective in developing techniques and methods of sperm sorting to help couples choose their baby’s gender and these modern process obviously cost a lot and some couples may not be able to include it in their budget. Luckily, there are natural factors about fertilization which are beneficial for couples to plan for a baby boy or girl. It helps to gain some insights on these, to add more enjoyment to parenthood.
First, studies found out that the Y sperm, the one that produces a male embryo cannot survive for more than twenty four hours in the acidity of the cervical environment. They are smaller, thinner, lighter and has the ability to swim faster than the X sperm. So, if the couple is aiming for a baby boy, it will be important to have sexual intercourse less than twenty four hours before the woman’s ovulation period and not more than twelve hours after it. In this manner, they will increase the chance of the Y sperm to reach the egg cell first, producing a male embryo. On the other hand, if the couple wants a baby girl, the couple can schedule sexual contact two to three days earlier than the ovulation period. In this way, when the egg cell is released during ovulation, only the more long thriving X (girl) sperm remains in the woman’s reproductive tract and is present to fertilize the egg creating a girl embryo.
On the other hand, positions during sexual contact is also relevant if the couple is in want of a baby boy. Since the Y sperm swims faster, it is important to give them a good start to reach the egg first. Applying positions which allow the sperm to be deposited close to the cervical opening such in rear entry intercourse and placing a pillow under the butt while the woman is lying down will increase the chance of the Y sperm to reach the egg first. Furthermore, after intercourse, the woman should remain lying in bed to allow the sperm to settle and not drift down.
Another necessary thing is a determining the ovulation day of the woman. Various ways can be used to do this. First, is through the use of ovulating kits which can be purchased in any pharmacies and drug stores. Usually the kits come with instructions on doing the test to determine your fertile days using your wee. In addition to this, a woman’s ovulation period can also be identified through the cervical mucus test. With this process, the woman observes the consistency of the cervical mucus on a daily basis. Nearing to your ovulation day, its consistency will be like that of a raw egg white, more elastic and watery. Another useful technique is the basal body temperature checking. The woman will check her body temperature daily at the same time before getting out of bed.
Also, closer to ovulation, a slight increase of the body temperature can be observed. Ideas on this matter will be relevant if the couple wants a baby boy. They can schedule their sexual contact on the woman’s ovulation to make sure that the Y sperm is there to fertilize the egg and not die while waiting for an egg as the Y sperm cannot survive for long. Otherwise, if they opt for a baby girl, they can do the other way around.
Ideas on these matters could provide a couple “some sort of control” over conceiving an offspring with their planned gender.
